A Brief Introduction to Silicon Carbide Briquettes
Silicon carbide is a synthetic raw materials produced by silica sand and coke (or anthracite), add salt and wood chips at 2000-2500℃ high temperature resistance furnace.
Silicon Carbide has a high thermal conductivity, a low coefficient of thermal expansion, is thermal shock and abrasion resistant and has strength at high temperatures. Silicon carbide’s varied properties make it an effective material in many different applications.
Silicon carbide briquettes are made by silicon carbide powder. It is used by the steel industry as a ladle deoxidizer, asource of silicon and carbon in the ladle, an electric furnace slag deoxidizer, and as a synthetic slag additive. According to Miller statistics, it costs less than ferrosilicon and carbon combination, produces cleaner steel due to low level of trace elements. It has low gascontent, and it does not lower the temperature of steel. It helps extend thehot steel supply and raises the tap temperature.
It is a great replacement for ferrosilicon.
